Summary of Updates

Visa Global Risk has announced significant updates to the 2025 VAMP, aimed at streamlining the payment ecosystem and addressing industry feedback. Key changes include:

    • Increased Thresholds: Higher thresholds for acquirers to minimize disruptions.
    • Augmented Calculation: Enhanced methods for calculating metrics, improving accuracy.
    • Pre-Dispute Solutions Impact: Adjustments to how pre-dispute solutions affect VAMP calculations.

Notably, Verifi solutions will continue to protect merchants by reducing the impact of fraud and disputes – resolved CDRN and RDR cases, along with CE3.0 10.4 deflections, will still prevent disputes from affecting your VAMP ratios. Additionally, CE3.0 deflected fraud notices (TC40) will be excluded from the calculations, ensuring a more favourable outcome for customers and partners.

Recent Developments

In 2024, Visa introduced the Visa Acquirer Monitoring Program (VAMP), which consolidates various rules into a single framework with three primary objectives: reducing fraud, minimizing friction for consumers, and alleviating operational burdens for Visa clients. Recent updates reflect feedback from acquirers, merchants, and industry groups.

Key Changes

While the core principles of the program remain intact, Visa is refining the formula used to identify high-fraud entities. This adjustment will now incorporate all disputes—both fraudulent and non-fraudulent—aiming to enhance the overall experience for consumers. Merchants, payment companies, and their acquirers with high dispute levels will be motivated to reassess their business practices, including product quality, marketing strategies, and proactive fraud prevention measures, to meet customer expectations effectively.
