Legal and Regulatory Update Trends – Latest AN 8201 Updates for the Business Risk Assessment and Mitigation Program (BRAM)
Mastercard has updated information on Internet gambling and sports betting in Hungary and Moldova.
From 1 January 2023, companies in Hungary and the European Economic Area (EEA) have the opportunity to organise telegaming in Hungary, if they meet the conditions prescribed by law and are licensed through Hungary’s Supervisory Authority for Regulated Activities. Likewise, any gambling merchant operating in Moldova must have a license issued by the authorities in Moldova.
Mastercard recommends acquirers to review and identify Internet gambling merchants that may be operating in the jurisdictions listed above, and to take proactive action to ensure such merchants are compliant with the Mastercard Standards and applicable laws – including but not limited to, holding the required licenses to operate.
