Mastercard has announced additional revisions to the Merchant Monitoring Program (MMP) standards, published on July 29, 2025 and effective January 01, 2026.   

 

Summary of Revised Standards for the Merchant Monitoring Program 

Mastercard is revising the standards for its Merchant Monitoring Program (MMP), with the latest changes set to take effect on January 1, 2026. These updates aim to enhance the monitoring and prevention of BRAM (Business Risk Assessment Model) violations and merchant transaction laundering. Customers are encouraged to review these revisions and prepare accordingly. 

Key Changes and Effective Date  

  • Revised Standards effective date changed from 14 January 2025 to 1 January 2026.  
  • Added in (8.9.1) of the revised Standards – Any merchant onboarded on January 1, 2026 or thereafter must undergo an initial scan prior to the first Transaction.
